ASME Certification

Obtaining the ASME Stamp is the most demanding process in industrial engineering. It involves implementing a robust quality control system, preparing specific technical documentation, and successfully passing an audit conducted by an Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) designated by ASME.

Oswaldo Sabato manages the entire process: from the initial gap analysis to on-site accompaniment during the Joint Review and issuance of the Data Report. His direct experience as a representative for HSB—one of the world's largest AIAs—translates into surgical preparation for exactly what auditors evaluate.

Deliverables
✓ Regulatory gap analysis and technical report
✓ Development of Quality Control Manual (QC Manual) according to ASME
✓ Structuring forms, procedures, and quality records
✓ Training the quality team for the audit
✓ On-site presence and support during the Joint Review with the AIA
✓ Post-audit support until Certificate of Authorization issuance

NR-13 Compliance

The Regulatory Standard 13 (NR-13) of the Brazilian Ministry of Labor establishes the minimum requirements for integrity management of boilers, pressure vessels, and industrial piping in Brazil. Non-compliance exposes the company to facility shutdowns, labor fines, and civil/criminal liability in cases of accidents.

Sabato Engenharia offers complete technical and legal integration: harmonizing ASME manufacturing requirements with NR-13 operational obligations, structuring a periodic inspection program that protects both the company's assets and worker safety.

Deliverables
✓ Elaboration and revision of NR-13 Logbooks
✓ Periodic inspection reports for boilers and vessels
✓ Documented preventive maintenance plans
✓ ASME VIII × NR-13 harmonization for imported equipment
✓ Support during Ministry of Labor audits

Mechanical Engineering and Structural Calculations

The ASME code offers two design paradigms: the empirical and conservative methods of Division 1, and the rigorous, economically optimized calculations of Division 2, based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fracture mechanics. For extreme pressure regimes above 70 MPa, Division 3 prescribes specific cyclic fatigue methodologies.

Selecting the correct design approach can mean substantial reductions in the equipment's weight and manufacturing cost, without any compromise to structural integrity. Sabato Engenharia conducts the analysis to determine which path is technically appropriate and economically advantageous for each project.

Technical scope
✓ Calculation of thicknesses and allowable stresses (ASME VIII Div. 1)
✓ Finite Element Analysis — Div. 2 (Design by Analysis)
✓ High-pressure designs — Div. 3 (above 70 MPa)
✓ Fatigue and fracture analysis
✓ Materials specification (steel alloys, Duplex, Cr-Mo)
✓ Calculation memorial for AIA submission
